Mark de Waal
President
Mark began his career in Premium Audit in 1992 after working in the banking and investment industry. From 1992 to 2017, Mark worked as a Field Auditor, Vice President, and President/Owner of CWS, Inc. (a regional premium audit service company). Under Mark’s leadership, CWS grew from a “mom & pop” operation to a major regional service provider with leading-edge technology and over 160 dedicated insurance service professionals. During his time at CWS, Mark’s vision created an internet-based management system that became one of the leading software applications within the premium audit industry.
Since joining Afirm, Mark has been part of the senior executive leadership team, managed sales and marketing, and has had overall responsibility for the Premium Audit Practice Group. Mark served on the board of the National Association for Insurance Auditors and Engineers (NAIIAE) and was elected President for two consecutive terms.
Mark is one who embraces change but remains steadfast that quality will never go out of style, your word is your bond, and the needs of our clients are our priority.
Mark is a proud graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign with a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a concentration in Law and Economics.
Alan Singer
Senior Vice President
Alan Singer brings more than four decades of experience to Afirm. As Senior Vice President, he is a strategic advisor responsible for building relationships with insurance partners, navigating legal issues, and overseeing the acquisition and integration of new partners into the Afirm family.
Prior to Afirm, Alan spent decades in the construction industry and practicing law, making it a natural fit to move into the inspections industry. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and serves as a founding board member of the Pediatric IBD (Intestinal Bowel Disease) Foundation. He previously served on the board of the Jewish Federation and Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit where he was Chairman of its Real Estate division and was a Board member of the Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan.
Alan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Detroit, School of Law.
Stephen White
Vice President
Stephen White entered the Loss Control Industry in 2007 when he began his career with Afirm. As Vice President, he leads the Loss Control and Risk Services Group. Stephen is responsible for the field operations, training department, contractors, vendors, product development, quality control, and recruiting within the Practice Group, supervising approximately 300+ indirect reports.
Stephen’s achievements within the industry include completing the Associates in General Insurance (AINS) and Associates in Risk Management (ARM) designations. He has had the honor of serving as President of Insurance Loss Control Association (ILCA).
Ryan Parker
Associate Vice President, Finance & Director of Emerging Markets
Ryan Parker serves as the AVP of Finance. In addition to leading the Afirm Accounting and Finance team, he performs internal departmental data analysis and audits, and new and emerging market entry activities.
Ryan brings to Afirm more than 15 years of comprehensive experience in both Premium Audit and Loss Control. During his tenure, Ryan has filled essential roles within operations management, training, and mergers and acquisitions integrations in the US and Canadian markets. Ryan applies his honed analytical skills to every task, with a focus on process improvement to maximize value for each of our external and internal clients.
Ryan holds a Bachelor degree in Business Management, specializing in Finance, and a Master of Business Administration with a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance from Colorado State University. Ryan also served as an advisory board member for the Colorado State University School of Business graduate program.
